✨ Choosing Grace Over Expectations This Holiday Season Take a deep breath. This month can feel like a whirlwind of joy, stress, anticipation, and even grief. I process it all by writing, so here we are. If you’re sticking around, I hope this points your heart to Jesus, the real gift of Christmas. December has always been bittersweet for me. I love the traditions, but as my kids have grown, many of those moments have faded and I can get stuck reflecting on what feels missing. A few weeks ago, I realized I was focusing on myself—what I lacked and how others weren’t meeting my needs. Then the Lord gently reminded me of something life-changing. My needs are fully met in Him. I love the Lord with my whole heart. But I wanted Him to meet my needs my way. I was asking Him to meet my needs through others. And that selfish way of thinking/living will never lead to joy & peace. And can I be honest? That mindset leads to a dark place. As I fix my eyes on His character, His goodness, and His amazing love, I remember: He sees me. He knows me. He loves me. The Lord is my Shepherd and I lack nothing. So, this December, to my husband, my children and my close friends: you’re off the hook. This December, I’m choosing to let go of expectations and fix my gaze on the only One who can truly meet my needs. His grace is enough. I know He’ll bring joy through the amazing people in my life, but those moments are the cherry on top—fleeting and temporary. Jesus is the real gift. Let’s rest in Him this season. 💖 “Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free…” ~ Kristie P.S. Are you following along with our nightly Advent posts in the Facebook Group here?
